Let’s put this upfront: I know the author and am mentioned in the book. That said, I can highly recommend “Power” for young people, especially young people of color, to help support their growth toward and progress in their careers.

I’ve mentored and sponsored many young adults over the years. What Dan has done is provide excellent counsel on how individuals can productively create and use those relationships to advance. Each chapter’s step by step summaries are a great distillation. But Dan makes it a more engaging read by telling his story to illustrate both his successes and mistakes in moving ahead.

I’m about to buy more copies for my nieces and nephews as they move ahead in their professions even though they’ll roll their eyes when they get to the part where I’m mentioned. If you are a young person embarking on a career or thinking about how to position yourself for one — or if you know someone who is, buy the book. It’s terrific.”
